Abstract

The Airy beam has intrigued many researchers since it was first generated in optics. Because of the non-diffraction, self-bending and self-healing properties, it can be applied to wireless power transfer (WPT) in the microwave band. In this paper, we propose a new mechanism to generate a one-dimensional (1D) Airy beam based on the holographic scalar metasurface in the microwave band by simultaneously modulating the amplitude and phase of the electromagnetic wave. The holographic metasurface is made up of tiny units, so it has the advantages of low profile, simple design and easy integration with other systems. The operating frequency of the holographic metasurface is 12 GHz, and the simulation results show that the simple device can generate the 1D Airy beam with high performance. Because the holographic metasurface can flexibly control the amplitude and phase of electromagnetic waves, the Airy beam with better performance can be obtained from the results, which has great significance for WPT.
