Abstract

The method of active mode locking was applied to a long-pulse XeCl laser (λ = 308 nm) in order to generate pulses of 150-ps duration. This laser was pumped by a double discharge and the duration of free-running pulses was 250 ns at midamplitude. The laser was capable of generating a train containing up to 60 subnanosecond pulses.
