Abstract
A frequency doubled dye laser system, incorporating a single longitudinal mode oscillator, followed by a single stage XeCl amplifier has yielded truncated stimulated Brillouin scattering (TRUBS) pulses of ≈50 ps duration and is potentially capable of providing significantly shorter pulses.
