Abstract

The conditions of the stable self-sustained volume discharges formation in CO 2 - laser mixtures at super-atmospheric pressures (up to 5 atm.) with a pump energy density of up to 150 mJ.cm-3.atm-1 at pulse repetition frequencies up to 2 kHz are determined.Generation characteristics of a TE-CO 2 laser with an active medium volume of V A = 1,5×1×30 cm3 were studied. The maximum average laser radiation power of 160 W was achieved at a pulse repetition rate of 1.5 kHz at full pressure of the working mixture P ∑ = 5 atmospheres. At a pulse repetition rate of 2 kHz the level of average radiation power decreases to 120 W.
