Summary This article describes manual and computer based methods for generating random number lists for use in conducting 3P sample surveys. It outlines a procedure for selecting from pages of computer generated output the most satisfactory page of random numbers to use for selecting the 3P sample when the number of units (trees, plots, etc.) to be assessed is small, e.g., <500.
