Abstract

Vortex electromagnetic field with helical wavefront carry orbital angular momentum (OAM), which could be generated by antenna array with differential phase feeding network. At present, the generation method of OAM using antenna array faces plenty of challenges, like mode number, aperture's efficiency, design of feeding network, etc. In this paper, we propose a dual-band and dual-mode antenna array to generate the vortex electromagnetic wave. The dual-band slot antenna is used as the array's element and the antenna array is integrated with differential phase feeding network that working in the dual frequency. The simulation and measurement results both validate that the proposed antenna array has the dual-band and dual-mode working performance, which can generate the vortex electromagnetic field with mode 1 at 0.9 GHz and mode 2 at 1.8 GHz. The proposed approach may provide a novel path for the generation and detection of vortex electromagnetic wave within a compact wireless communication system.
