Abstract
Based on the generalized WKB and complex energy method, the authors study the atomic shape resonance in the IPA model, where the photoionization cross section shows maximum structure at resonance energies near the top of the barrier. Only f states of atoms around Xe and Rn have observable shape resonance structures.
