Abstract
Based on the semi-inverse method of establishing variational principles proposed in [10], a family of variational principles (non Gurtin-type and not involving convolutions) for thermopiezoelectricity is deduced directly from the field equations and boundary/initial conditions. Present theory provides a more complete theoretical basis for the finite element applications and other direct variational methods such as Ritz's, Trefftz's and Kantorovitch's methods.
