Abstract

The recurrence relations for matrix elements are very useful in quantum calculations, but their direct computation are generally very cumbersome. An interesting and useful recurrence formula is the Blanchard’s relation for arbitrary non-relativistic matrix elements of the form 〈n 1 l 1|r λ |n 2 l 2〉, where the symbol |nl〉 stands for non-relativistic hydrogenic radial eigenstate. In this Chapter, we shall present the generalized hypervirial theorem for relativistic Dirac equation both in off-diagonal and diagonal cases.
