Abstract
This paper concerns with a procedure of transmit bea- mforming with finite impulse response filters for frequency-selec- tive channels and simple linear equalization at the generalized re- ceiver constructed in accordance with the generalized approach to signal processing in noise. Since a closed-form solution for the optimum finite impulse response beamforming filters does not se- em to exist, we employ a known efficient numerical method for recursive calculation. Our numerical results and simulation show that for typical Global System for Mobile Communications/Enha- nced Data Rates for GSM Evolution (GSM/ EDGE) channels the generalized receiver outperforms by performance the optimum infinite impulse response beamforming filters at the known recei- ver and can closely approach the performance of the infinite imp- ulse response beamforming filters at the generalized receiver and yield significant gains over single antenna transmission.
