Abstract
A generalized formula for event frequency based on conditional probability and conditional frequency approach is derived in this paper. This formula can be used for calculating the time specific and steady state frequency of system failure involving multistate components. The formula is very powerful and can be used to calculate the probability and frequency of system failure for large and complex systems using decomposition approach.
