Abstract

The concept of the generalized boundary condition is introduced, and stabilization of ion-sound waves and drift waves using such boundary conditions is demonstrated. The boundary consists of a two-dimensional, lumped-parameter transmission line in electrical contact with the plasma. A boundary dispersion relation is introduced which describes the boundary modes and their interaction with the plasma. Modes which are combinations of plasma and boundary modes are obtained which can be stabilized by appropriate choice of inactive circuit elements.
