Abstract
The performance of dual-hop opportunistic relaying with randomly distributed decode-and-forward relays is investigated. The relays are assumed to be distributed according to a two-dimensional homogeneous Poisson point process, in contrast to most of the existing literature where the locations of relays are assumed to be known and deterministic. An exact expression for the outage probability of this cooperative system is derived for general fading environments. The expression is then specialized to the case where the transmission channels are modeled as Rayleigh fading channels.
