Abstract

Offer management in special machine engineering is characterized by high complexity in the design and cost calculation of manufacturing systems based on customer-specific requirements. To maintain competitiveness, offers should be returned to the customer as quickly and accurately as possible, while minimizing internal effort to save costs and resources. Intelligent tools that support employees estimating subsystem costs add significant value. This paper describes a generalizable, AI-based approach to estimate cost and efforts of individual manufacturing system structures based on historical data. The steps of data ingestion and preprocessing as well as model training and evaluation are orchestrated by a pipeline.
