Abstract

Using the Chernina equation, we can obtain the equation in complex form of the bending of a ring shell which takes the same form as Novozhelov’s. From this, it is convenient for us to gain the general solution of this problem by making use of axial-symmetrical results, given by ours and previous works. As an example, we calculate the pure bending of a C-type corrugated tube and the result agrees well with the case subjected to an axial applied force P(M = PR/2). This equivalent fact was indicated by C. E. Turner [11] through experiment, and Iohelison [9] by calculation.
