Abstract

A new mathematical model to calculate current density distributions and leakage current in electrochemical reactors with N bipolar electrodes, which are closer to those found in the industrial field, is developed. Several electrochemical kinetics are considered with the aim of making the model as diverse and robust as possible. Parametric analyses are carried out. The number of bipolar electrodes being used affects current density distributions, reaching a limit if N > 10. The models are validated with experimental points considering primary and secondary current density distribution, and these results are compared with those obtained from previous models.
