Abstract
Let [Formula: see text] be the set of all trees with [Formula: see text] vertices and [Formula: see text] branching vertices. We present lower bounds on the general Randić index for trees in [Formula: see text] for [Formula: see text]. Those bounds generalize lower bounds on the second Zagreb index for trees in [Formula: see text] presented by Borovićanin in 2015, since the second Zagreb index is a special case of the general Randić index. We also correct the lower bound of Borovićanin for [Formula: see text].
