He nr she has traditionally been the 'gate keeper’ to the British XI IS and, as such-, the first port of call for anyone needin” non-emergency access to medical care of any description. GPs form a (generally; valued part of all comniunitie's in the UK. The strength of this system of primary care lies in the immediate local accessibility and availability of health care professionals who will often have a loiwa-terni relationship with, a it d knowledge of, lhe individual and their social and family context.
