Abstract

This study evaluated experience in general practice placements in Foundation Year two (FY2) of the new Modernising Medical Careers arrangements. The views of FY2 doctors, who had had the opportunity to spend four months in general practice as part of their FY2 training in the Coventry and Warwickshire Foundation School within the West Midlands Deanery, were evaluated. The method utilised an online questionnaire sent to all 55 doctors who experienced a four-month general practice placement from August 2004 to August 2005. Out of these 55 doctors, 35 replied (63.6% response rate). The results of this evaluation very clearly demonstrated how worthwhile these young doctors considered this experience to be, and Education for Primary Care (2008) 19: 151–9 # 2008 Radcliffe Publishing Limited
