Abstract
In this study, the authors used meta-analytical techniques to examine the relationship of general mental ability (GMA) with entrepreneurial status, intentions, skills, and firm-level performance outcomes. Results indicated that GMA has little to no relationship with entrepreneurial status or intent, but moderate to large relationships with entrepreneurial skills and firm-level outcomes. The authors found considerable heterogeneity in effects sizes and tested several moderators, including country of study, gender of entrepreneurs, fluid versus crystallized intelligence, and study design, but found little support for these moderators having meaningful influences on effect sizes.
