Abstract

AbstractPrussian blue (PB) and its analogs, such as indium hexacyanoferrate (InHCF), can serve as artificial oxidases and mediate electron transfer from electrodes to analytes rapidly. Hence they are playing a growing role in the biosensor field. To gain further insight into the PB‐based amperometric sensors, a general kinetic model for the prediction of sensing current has been developed in this work. The model takes both effects of analyte diffusion and electrocatalytic reaction into consideration and defines a dimensionless system constant, θ°, in order to compare the surface catalytic rate with the analyte diffusion rate. Consequently, the mathematical expression of sensing current, I, is derived as follows:
