Abstract
Given a Hilbert space idempotent let and Based on the block operator technique and Halmos' two projections theory, we give general explicit descriptions for all the symmetries in as well as in . We also study the symmetry in detail, and characterize the symmetries in via . Using this, the relationship between the symmetries in and the symmetries in is established.
