Abstract
Drug hypersensitivity syndrome(DHS) is a life-threatening reaction that appears after prolonged exposure to certain offending drugs. Unlike usual drug eruptions. DHS typically represents a protracted clinical course, slow resolution and higher mortality rate. Recently several studies have provided the evidence to show reactivation of human herpesvirus-6(HHV-6) implicated in the pathogenesis of DHS. Accordingly. it can not be excluded that HHV-6 reactivation might play a potential role in the development of DHS in susceptible patients.
