Abstract

General characteristics of landslides in Shikoku region were investigated and were compared with those of tertiary landslides. The average slip angle of landslides in Shikoku region is smaller (above 10°) than that of landslides in tertiary regions; however, the depth of slip surface is approximately the same. Moreover, the ground water table of landslides in Shikoku region is lower than that of tertiary landslides. The strength parameters of the slip layer clays were obtained by carrying out triaxial and ring shear test: φ' was determind to be 20°∼40° and φr to be 5°∼30°
