Abstract
Abstract The hydrolyses of seven alkyl benzoates are catalyzed by α-cyclodextrin. These results indicate that the general base catalysis by α-cyclodextrin, previously found for the first time in the hydrolysis of 2,2,2-trifluoroethyl 4-nitrobenzoate, is applicable to other alkyl esters.
