Abstract

The main function of radio link protocol (RLP) is to reduce frame error rate from CDMA traffic channel and provide an octet stream transport service to a higher layer. RLP performance is related to both channel quality and behavior of MAC multiplex sub-layer. However, MAC protocol varies a lot between different cdma2000 releases. This paper developed a general RLP model which can be used to analyze systems with different MAC multiplex sub-layer. In this paper, a HARQ model has been set up to describe MAC multiplex sub-layer performance in cdma2000 release C, based on which the RLP model analyzed and described RLP transmission delay, residual FER and data throughput under different user numbers in the forward link. Model predictions are shown to agree with systematic simulation results
