Abstract

In this study we investigated the effect of cadmium chloride on the change of the expression of genes encoding key enzymes of cadmium detoxification in pea. In nodules of, the pea initial line SGE and the mutant line SGECdt, which differ by cadmium tolerance, the expression of genes encoding γ-glutamyl-cysteine synthetase (GSH1), glutathione synthetase (GSHS), homoglutathione synthetase (hGSHS), and phytochelatin synthase (PsPCS) was studied. It was demonstrated that the increased tolerance of nodules of mutant line SGECdt to cadmium chloride is not related to the expression of the analyzed genes.
