Abstract

Six generations — P19 P29 F19 F29 B19 and B29 — of each of five spring wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) crosses were employed in the evaluation of gene effects in the inheritance of grain protein by using Hayman's model for the analysis of generation means. Significant epistasis was absent in all crosses. The additive genetic effect was highly significant for all crosses. In only two of the five crosses was the dominance effect significant. These results indicate significant potential for improving grain protein percent through selection.
