Abstract

Abstract Effects of acupuncture and moxibustion preconditioning were investigated on cell apoptosis in rats subjected to cardiac muscle reperfusion and the expression of C-fos mRNA. The results showed that after treatments apoptotic cells were reduced by an upregulation of C-fos mRNA expression. Administration of acupuncture and moxibustion was more effective than that of ischemic preconditioning in defending cell apoptosis, and twice-daily was better than once-daily treatment.
