Gender, Sexuality and Crime: A 21st Century Trend in India

Abstract

Gender, Sexuality and its related Crimes are one of the most critical and controversial topics in today’s scenario. There have been several debates and researches being done on this topic but some people still consider talking about these issues as a taboo or something. They are not even aware about the basic difference between gender and sexuality. Crime rate has increased by leaps and bounds in the recent century, especially the gender and sexuality related crimes are touching skies unfortunately without much remedy. Awareness about these issues is lacking so people have to think twice before accepting their originality as in regard to their sexuality and other things. But, as we see now, some intellectuals are bringing up these issues, many laws have also been passed and awareness has been tried to be made among the population so that they can speak up for their rights and live with dignity and without any fear of criticism. Centuries-old tradition has now been supplanted by modern thoughts and beliefs and how beneficial or destructive it will actually turn out to be, is something that we will try figuring out under the ambit of this project. We will basically discus about the gender, sexuality and crime in the twenty first century modern India and we will see how it is shaping the society in general.
