Abstract

Using an experimental approach this paper aims to assess effect of gender disparity in education and returns to education on growth of Indian economy. We intend to evaluate effect of gender disparities at work and education on economic growth. Using Vector Error Correction Model (VECM) and decomposition analysis, study shows that gender inequality has negative association with growth of an economy particularly in long run. However, the effect seems to be consistent during short run as well. Thus, we could argue that gender disparity in Labor Force Participation and education leads to negative impact on economic growth.
