Abstract

SUMMARY The formation process for pastoral counselors needs to attend to gender identity and sexual orientation. The dynamics inherent in these concepts are present in our embodiment as pastoral counselors and our work with clients. Formation processes can assist pastoral counselors in examining our cultural, religious, and conceptual biases, as well as re-constructing understandings of gender identity and sexual orientation.
