Abstract

Gender equality is a very complex and diversified issue due to its relevance in every sphere of existence. India ranks 130th amongst 188 countries in Human Development Index and 127th among 146 countries in gender inequality index of UNDP's Human Development Report 2015. Whether it is about earning bread or about raising the family, there has always been an inequality around distribution of roles and responsibilities between males and females in India. This inequality and equality has been a matter of concern for the researchers all around the world. This paper tries to examine the existence of gender equality at the workplace. To keep abreast of the latest strategies in emerging markets and also as a part of their corporate social responsibility, organisations these days are contributing positively towards making the position of women workers better at their workplace. The study focuses on gender based talent acquisition and retention practices prevalent in organisations based in Delhi-NCR region. For this purpose, a plethora of researches have been studied. The research shows an optimistic future in the light of gender sensitive patterns of talent acquisition and retention practices in the organisations.
