Abstract

The article analyzed the influence of gender disparities in journalism and the difficulties of female professionals to achieve leadership positions. The accounts of two newspaper editors in the city of São Paulo were used as empirical objects of the study. The research methodology includes a bibliographic survey and semi-structured interviews. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the interviews were conducted via Google Meet and WhatsApp. The results indicate that journalists in high positions suffer redoubled demands in relation to their colleagues and adopt a more “masculine” posture to impose respect.
