Abstract

The consistency of the Gell-Mann-Low equation is checked up to order α 2 using the Gell-Mann-Low function to order α 3. The Callan-Symanzik function β e μ ( α,ln( m μ 2 / m e 2)) for the electron-muon case is obtained up to sixth order employing the results of De Rafael and Rosner for the electron Callan-Symanzik funtion β e(α). The corresponding electron-muon Gell-Mann-Low function ψ eμ is derived from β eμ and found to be consistent with the Gell-Mann-Low equation.
