Abstract

Summary This paper discusses the successful application of a polymer gel during a cement squeeze of a depleted zone in a gravel-packed producing well. The process involves proper placement of polymer gel to isolate zones in a gravel-pack completion during a cement squeeze. The report also discusses diagnostic well tests before and after the cement squeeze. The use of polymer gel as a blocking agent during a cement squeeze of a gravel-pack completion of a thermally stimulated well does not appear to be a common practice and has not been reported previously.
