Abstract

This study discusses on the linguistic style of amr which relates with war as revealed in surah al-Baqarah. This study addresses two (2) main objectives; first, to identify the forms and purposes of the amr and second, to conclude the hidden meaning of diversity of the amr forms in the context of war in surah al-Baqarah. The study is designed using qualitative approach by employing text analysis based on interpreted scripts by conventional and modern scholars. cAbbas (1997) Theory has been applied for the first objective and the remaining objective is using the theory from al-Awsiy (1988) and Wahbah al-Zuhayliy (1991). The finding of the study encompassed two forms of amr, which are ficl amr and uslub khabariy which indicates insya’iy while the five (5) amr purposes discovered within this context are obligatory (wajib), ibahat, tahdid, irsyad and duca. In regards to the hidden meaning of diversity of the amr form, this study found that the ficl amr has been used in a strong and firm way to reflect the intensity of command in explaining fundamental matters. For uslub khabariy which indicates insya’iy, it is used in a gentle way because of involving complicated matters. In conclusion, the diversity of the amr form which has been used depending on specified context or circumstances has its own uniqueness and implicit meaning. Thus, it is a good starting point to extend this study to other surah besides al-Baqarah.
 ABSTRAK
 Kajian ini membincangkan mengenai gaya bahasa amr berkaitan perang dalam surah al-Baqarah. Kajian ini mempunyai dua objektif utama iaitu yang pertama untuk mengenalpasti bentuk dan tujuan amr dan yang kedua untuk merumuskan mesej tersirat kepelbagaian bentuk amr bagi konteks perang dalam surah al-Baqarah. Kajian ini merupakan kajian kualitatif yang dianalisis menggunakan teknik analisis teks berdasarkan konteks ayat dengan menggunakan tafsir-tafsir yang berkaitan dari ulama silam dan moden. Bagi objektif pertama kajian ini menggunakan Teori cAbbas (1997) manakala objektif kedua pula menggunakan Teori al-Awsiy (1988) dan Wahbah al-Zuhayliy (1991). Dapatan kajian mendapati bahawa konteks perang mempunyai dua bentuk amr iaitu ficl amr dan uslub khabariy yang memberi makna insya’iy. Manakala terdapat lima tujuan amr bagi konteks ini iaitu wajib, ibahat, tahdid atau amaran, irsyad dan doa. Seterusnya bagi mesej tersirat kepelbagaian bentuk amr kajian ini merumuskan bahawa ficl amr digunakan sebagai arahan yang sangat tegas dan kuat yang menunjukkan kesungguhan untuk menjelaskan perkara-perkara asas dan uslub khabariy yang memberi makna insya’iy pula bersifat kelembutan kerana ia melibatkan perkara yang sukar. Secara kesimpulannya, kepelbagaian bentuk amr yang digunakan mengikut konteks dan situasi tertentu mempunyai keunikan dan mesej tersirat. Ini merupakan satu dapatan baru dan kajian ini boleh dilanjutkan lagi dalam surah lain selain al-Baqarah.
