Abstract
An attempt has been made in order to find a link between the Gaussian plume model and the K model under conditions of a height structured atmospheric boundary layer. The resulting set of equations connecting the Gaussian parameters to the K and u fields can be used to define a “modified” Gaussian plume model that is capable of modelling phenomena like trapping and fumigation of pollutants typical of situations with marked variations of the advection and dispersion fields with height.
