Abstract

1. 1. The visible and near-ultraviolet absorption and circular dichroism (CD) spectra of Murex trunculus oxyhaemocyanin are presented with a Gaussian analysis of the spectra. 2. 2. The same set of bands generates both the absorption and the CD spectra. The analysis indicates five CD bands above 300 nm with signs (−, +, +,−,+). The band positions are at 347, 426, 476, 570 and 725 nm. The oscillator and rotational strengths of the bands are given. 3. 3. The general significance of the bands in relation to electronic transitions in the copper-oxygen complex is discussed.
