Abstract

The transformations of the renormalized interpolating fields generated by the gauge transformation of the free asymptotic fields restrict the interpolating fields to satisfying certain commutation rules. These commutation rules, in turn, give a non-phenomenological charge operator for the interpolating Heisenberg fields. Redundant states and the eigenvalue problem with the indefinite metric are discussed.
