Abstract

A gauge-independent approach to leading log calculations of hard process cross sections in QCD is presented. It is shown that after Feynman diagrams, constituting the running coupling constant, are calculated in the Feynman gauge, the gluons in the rest of diagrams can be considered transversal (bearing only two physical polarizations). To the leading log order, these diagrams have a ladder structure. The quark and gluon structure functions and the Drell-Yan process differential cross section are calculated. The results are shown to coincide with those obtained by calculations in the planar gauge.
