Abstract
1. The pyloric antral mucosa of a 14 yr old female Indian python was subjected to gastrin extraction procedure.2. The crude extract weighed 14·25 mg/g wet weight of the mucosa.3. The histamine content of the saline solution of the extract was 42·5 ± 3·1 ng per mg crude extract.4. Gastrin-like activity was detected in the extract and was found to be equivalent to 52·1 ± 2·5 ng sy synthetic human gastrin I (SHG I) per mg extract or 0·728 μg SHG I per g wet weight of the mucosa.
