Abstract

This case report is of an 86-year-old lady who presented with nausea and a six-week history of increasing abdominal distension. She had a firm palpable mass across the abdomen on examination, which correlated with a CT scan showing a 20×16.5×13 cm mass within the abdomen thought to be a GIST. She was managed with surgical removal of the mass that was seen arising from the gastric antrum at the time of operation. Histopathological features of the lesion show a glandular like growth pattern, perivascular growth with Schiller-Duval bodies and positive immunohistochemistry staining for Glypican-3 and AFP. The combination of these findings is in keeping with a yolk sac tumour.
