Abstract

Gastric volvulus is an uncommon condition which is difficult to diagnose and treat. There are predominantly two types of Gastric volvulus, Oraganoaxial and Mesenteroaxial. The most common cause of gastric volvulus is secondary to hiatus hernia. The diagnosis is suspected when erect chest radiograph images show a high airfluid level in the chest. Gastric volvulus is a life threatening emergency, because it may lead to strangulation of stomach and perforation. Copyright © 2014, Indian Journal of Medical Specialities.
