Abstract
Despite the fact that gastric carcinoma appears to be slowly decreasing in incidence, it remains a common cause of cancer death in the UK. The greater majority of malignant gastric neoplasms are adenocarcinomas, gastric lymphoma accounts for approximately 3%, and the remainder are the rarer malignant gastrointestinal stromal tumours and neuroendocrine tumours.
