Abstract

Laparoscopic band surgery, introduced in 2001, has quickly become one of the most popular surgical methods for obesity patients. It is a relatively safe and less invasive procedure than other bariatric operations, with fewer postoperative complications. Since 2001, there have been more than 120,000 lap bands performed worldwide. We present an easy, cheap alternative for finding laparascopic banding adjustment ports within the abdomen. Many surgeons carry in their office an expensive portable ultrasound, which is operator dependent and requires surgeons to be trained in the use of the equipment.
