Abstract

The present study was undertaken to compare the gastric acid stimulatory properties of pentagastrin with those of human synthetic gastrin. Resting, isolated builfrog mucosae were exposed to pentagastrin and to human synthetic gastrin and mucosal acid secretory rates measured. Pentagastrin was found to be a more powerful stimulant of gastric acid secretion than human synthetic gastrin in this preparation.
