Abstract
For gasoline engines with spray-guided combustion processes, Siemens VDO Automotive has developed a new gasoline direct injection system, the components of which include an innovative, outward opening injector based on piezo technology. The dynamics and spray preparation of this piezo injector allow a considerably wider use of fuel-economic stratified injection, thus offering a contribution to reducing CO2 emissions in particular.
