Abstract

Abstract A gas-liquid chromatographic (GLC) method is described for determining fentin acetate and fentin hydroxide in formulations in the presence of maneb. Triphenyltin acetate or hydroxide is converted to butyltriphenyltin by the Grignard reaction; the product is determined by GLC, using flame ionization or thermal conductivity detection, a column containing 5% SE-30 on Chromosorb W (HP) or Gas-Chrom Q, and docosane as the internal standard. Fifteen laboratories tested the method on 6 samples. The estimated repeatabilities expressed as coefficients of variation, ranged from 0.8 to 1.4% and the estimated reproducibilities from 1.3 to 1.7%.
