Abstract

The IR spectra of the gas phase formed during the interaction of gaseous CH3I with granular sorbents based on SiO2 and γ-Al2O3 containing various Ag and Ni compounds were studied. It was found that the main gaseous products formed during the interaction of CH3I with the studied sorbents based on SiO2 are CH3NO3, CH3CH2NO3, CH3OCH3, CO2, and I2, and with those based on γ-Al2O3 – CH3NO3, CH3CH2NO3, CH3OCH3, CH3OH, CO2, and I2. It is possible that nitromethane CH3NO2 is also present in the reaction products.
